About

Your Partner in Wellness

Hello! I’m Emily and I’m a certified health and wellness coach through Wellcoaches School of Coaching. I earned my BA in psychology from the University of Michigan, and I also have a Master’s from the University of Chicago where I studied clinical social work. Drawing on over 15 years in social work, I believe that everyone has the potential to do great things.

As a health coach, I help people adopt practices and routines that enhance personal well-being and support them in showing up for the people, communities, and activities they care about.

I enjoy spending time with my husband and young daughter, getting outside, and trying healthy recipes. I’ve found that prioritizing time for physical fitness helps me feel energized and positive. You might also find me helping out with my daughter’s girl scout troop or making a lasagna for a family in need through Lasagna Love.

Motivations

My hope is to be part of a ripple effect that moves others to feel good and do good.

Being a social worker has taught me the importance of balance; how our capacity to give to others can be highly influenced by how we feel on the inside. When we feel supported, healthy, positive, confident, and strong we act with purpose.

Up until a few years ago, my own wellness journey had been full of fits and starts. I didn’t consider myself an athlete growing up (I was more drawn to academic and artistic challenges), but I wanted to find some sort of physical activity that I enjoyed.

In my late 30s, I decided to try weightlifting to help with stress. Armed with a pair of thrifted 5 pound dumbbells, a YouTube channel of free workouts, and a husband who was game to join me, I started lifting weights.

With consistency, I noticed that I felt stronger. And not just in the physical sense, but with my mindset as well. I felt more positive, able to take on challenges, and open to try new experiences. With time, I added more healthy habits into my routine – healthy eating, yoga, and better sleep hygiene to name a few.

It’s one thing to logically know that there’s a connection between physical and mental health. It’s another thing entirely to experience it for yourself.

In 2022, I decided to become a certified health and wellness coach to help people better understand the link between their minds and bodies, and how implementing healthy behaviors leads to greater holistic well-being. I wish for others to be well, allowing them to share their best selves with those they care about.
